Easter is coming…

So we are planning for Easter which is a huge opportunity for our people to invite their friends. We are finalizing the details and even though we don’t have a huge budget I think it will be a great opportunity for us to continue promoting what we can offer now, which is Jesus and relationships.

We are not big enough to have 50 million programs that are directed toward every possible group or demographic. But…we can encourage people to build a relationship with Jesus and with each other in belief that this will enable us to do life more effectively.

I once read “do what you can do, WELL”. Don’t spread yourself thin trying to do a bunch of things but focus on what you can do and make sure it the very best. This is tough to do because at every turn I see a new area that we could/should reach out to but considering I just started having an eye twitch today I think my body is defining the limits, until my AQ can grow just a little more.

5 Minute Blog… continued

So to wrap up my thoughts on AQ… I didn’t have time yesterday to thank Brian for teaching me that terminology. Here all that time I just thought my life sucked. I am only half kidding. We often times lose site that God is constantly at work especially when we are having our AQ stretched.

We have been singing “Salvation is Here” by Hillsong United the last couple of weeks. One of the lines from that song is “I know my God saved the day”. Even though this is one of my favorite songs, I think this section of lyrics is a little misleading. We view God as coming in it at the last second and saving the day like a super hero. Even though it may feel like that sometimes, if you look for God during your AQ stretch or any other time you will often find Him clearing our future route, keeping the issue from destroying us or as the old graphic image of footprints in the sand… He will be carrying us.

I once learned that stretching is an important part of muscular growth and now I know that it is important to spiritual growth.

The 5 minute blog

I am trying to learn the art of the 5-minute blog. I have been getting some pressure to blog more but it seems like the days and weeks fly by so I am going to try to take just five minutes and write a quick blog and when some free time comes up write a little more. Part of the problem is that once I start, I just keep going and next thing I know I have a book so here is my first 5-minute blog:

This ugly site should be history in the next couple of days. In part of my plan for world domination was to put up the ugliest blog possible so that somebody would offer to create one for me at no charge. In reality it has cost me breakfast every other week for almost two months now but I think it will be worth it. Stay tuned…

Okay there goes 2 minutes – So I recently learned a new term that I want to share with you. AQ (no I didn’t mean to type IQ) but your AQ = Adversity Quotient. That is how much stress, strain, pressure, etc. that you can deal with and continue to operate without having a complete meltdown.

A couple of weeks ago I had a big gain in my AQ now if I could just do something with my IQ because some of my AQ increase is due to a lack of IQ. In order for God to prepare us for what He knows is coming we have to be challenged in new areas. I am amazed at how quickly God used the lessons learned through that period so that I could relate to someone dealing with similar challenges.

Well time is past up so I will have to continue my thoughts on that hopefully tomorrow. I sure wish I would have taken that typing class in high school….
